Families must register by Sep. 27 to join CASA Essex’s Harvest Festival on Oct. 5 in Newark. The event is from 1-4 p.m. at St. Michael’s School. It will include a Trunk or Treat, pumpkin patch, temporary tattoos, and face painting. Register by email.

Free homebuying workshop planned by Ironbound Community Corporation and Citibank on Oct. 5 in Newark. The event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 432 Lafayette St., will discuss the steps to buying a home. Registration is required.

Newark-NAACP chapter plans its 110th anniversary gala on Oct. 5. The event begins at 4 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport, 128 Frontage Rd. It will honor community leaders for services in education, labor, social justice, and more. Harlem Councilman Yusef Salaam is the event’s guest speaker. Tickets are $150 and can be purchased online.
