“Exploration of World Music” class planned by SOMA Coalition on Race starting Oct. 5 in Maplewood. Ahmondylla Best will teach SOMA residents different musical instruments, including the Kalimba and thumb piano. Classes are Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. at 1978 Arts Center, 1978 Springfield Ave. Registration is required.

“Hola Fest” planned by South Orange on Oct. 5. The all-day event is held at the Baird Community Center. It will include the “Kaleidoscope Hispanica” gallery exhibit, salsa and bachata dance lessons, and live music.

Performance by Epic Soul Band planned by Pleasant Valley Productions on Oct. 5 in West Orange. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Oskar Schindler Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is $5 at the door. Attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chair. There will be a beer and wine garden.

State conference discussing food access planned on Oct. 4 in Mt. Laurel and virtually. The conference is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Westin, 555 Fellowship Rd. There will be presentations and conversation prompts discussing ways to increase food access in N.J. It is designed for community organizations, farmers, residents, policymakers, healthcare providers, and researchers. There is no entry fee.
