New Jersey will partner with nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to purchase $100 million in medical debt held by more than 46,000 residents. It will use $10.5 million in federal pandemic aid to purchase debt held by individuals who earn four times the federal poverty level or less, which is $60,240 for a single adult and $124,800 for a family of four in 2024. There is no application or request process for medical debt relief because it is purchased directly from creditors.
