Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission board will vote Sep. 19 on a permit application to construct a fourth fossil fuel plant in Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood. Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Jr. and Ironbound Community Corporation previously met with PVSC members to find an alternative plan to the power plant, but could not reach a compromise, according to DiVincenzo. Community organizations and political leaders are urging the PVSC to withdraw its permit application. The PVSC meeting is open to the public and scheduled virtually for Sep. 19 at 12 p.m.
