Six locations in Newark will be part of a Rutgers University project to add green infrastructure solutions to reduce flooding, with similar projects planned for Paterson and Perth Amboy. The project will include rain gardens and porous pavement at these locations to help prevent flooding and control stormwater. Project construction is expected to begin in 2025, and once completed could absorb 60 million gallons of rain a year.
