South Orange Downtown seeks applicants to help redesign Friendship Circle at West South Orange Ave. Applications must include 5-10 examples of previous projects in outdoor spaces or urban planning. Proposals should include plans for community engagement, ways to address potential challenges, and functionality of the space. Guidelines are available online. Applications accepted by email by Sep. 1.

Statewide government job fair planned by N.J. Civil Service Commission on Aug. 15 in Union. Attendees will meet more than 30 potential employers hiring for state and local departments, agencies, colleges, and universities from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kean University. Registration is required.

New Jersey residents ages 18+ can receive free training to become a certified community health worker. Students must apply to attend the Colette Lamothe-Galette Community Health Worker Institute, a state program that comprises of classroom instruction and hands-on job training. Community health workers help residents secure care resources, support, and understand health risks and prevention. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED to enroll. Preregister online.
New Jersey Department of Health

Parents of disabled children in N.J. can share their experiences with public school support in a statewide survey. The survey will evaluate parent involvement in their student’s individualized education program (IEP). A supplemental survey will focus on bus safety. Results will inform N.J.’s annual performance report. Surveys are available by email or mail.
