South Orange area residents can donate clothing for reuse in the clothing shed at the Public Works Recycling Center. The center is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. A list of accepted items available online.

Eligible Essex County College students can apply for the presidential scholarship by Jul. 31. The scholarship offers up to $1,000 in funds. Students should apply if they are an Essex County resident, enrolled for the fall 2024 semester, completed the 2024-25 FAFSA application, and graduated from high school in 2024. New Jersey employees without a retirement savings plan can enroll in the state’s RetireReady NJ program. It requires businesses with 25 or more employees and with at least two years of operation to enroll if they do not currently offer a retirement plan, at no cost to them. Registration is also available for the self employed and on an individual basis. Webinars explaining how the program works are scheduled on Jul. 17 and Aug. 7 for employers and on Jul. 30 for individuals. Registration available online.
