Maplewood library is accepting enrollment for its English for Speakers of Other Languages classes on Jun. 20 in the Hilton Branch. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. through Jun. 27 Classes are available for beginner and intermediate students online from July to September. Students must show two forms of ID and a Gmail account to register. Registration is $25.

Story time and sing-along for toddlers planned by South Orange library on Jun. 20. The event is from 11-11:45 a.m. at the Skate House, 5 Mead St. Registration is required. Adults must accompany children.

“Boots and Brunch” planned by Outdoors On Purpose on Jun. 21 in West Orange and South Orange. The event begins with a hike at South Mountain Reservation at 11:30 a.m. followed by breakfast at Elitist Cafe, 154 Valley St. Register by email before Jun. 20.

Juneteenth Film Festival planned by West Orange on Jun. 21-23. Films will be screened throughout town over three days and will include panel discussions and talkbacks with directors, producers, and actors. Tickets are available online for each screening.

“Brew at the Zoo” for ages 21+ planned by Turtle Back Zoo on Jun. 29 in West Orange. There will be more than 50 craft beers, live music, and extended animal viewing hours from 6-9 p.m. Tickets available online for purchase.

New Jersey immigrant rights advocates requested to reverse a federal decision that could allow the reopening of privately owned Delaney Hall, a former Newark immigrant detention center. Advocates are concerned that the jail’s reopening will increase ICE arrests and harmful treatment towards immigrants. The case is before U.S. District Judge Robert Kirsch whose 2023 ruling overturned part of an N.J. law that prohibited public and private entities from detaining immigrants.
