Orange is accepting early bird enrollment for its 2024-25 preschool year on Mar. 21. Registration is from 2-6 p.m. The program includes breakfast and lunch, ELL and special needs services, and a high-scope curriculum. Registration is available at Orange Early Childhood Center, Montclair Child Development Center, Valley Settlement House, Norjenes Day Care, and NEEMA Preschool of Orange. Orange plans its ballot drawing for the municipal election on Mar. 22. The drawing begins at 3 p.m. at City Hall. It will determine the order in which candidate names appear on the May 14 election ballot. Add to 📅.

West Orange Hispanic Foundation to host “Immigration Information Session” on Mar. 22 in West Orange. New Jersey’s “Pass the Trash” law, aimed at preventing teachers accused of sexual misconduct from finding jobs in other districts, is being ignored by some school districts, a report from the State Commission of Investigation found. The law, introduced in 2018, was designed to obligate educators with allegations of sexual misconduct or child abuse to disclose this when applying for new jobs and requires hiring districts to ask for such records. The report found failures in this disclosure process at all levels. The report is available in full online.
