Park Avenue School students in grade 3 can receive fluoride varnish from a registered dental hygienist on Feb. 26 in Orange. Students can receive care at 10 a.m. in room 105. The initiative is a state program safeguarding against tooth decay. Add to 📅.

West Orange library to host a concert with James Austin Jr. Trio on Feb. 25. The concert begins at 2 p.m. and wil include jazz interpretations of several Stevie Wonder songs. Add to 📅.

Columbia High School Spectrum Club and New Jersey Safe Schools Coalition to host “Community Candle Light Vigil in Honor of Nex Benedict” on Feb. 24 in Maplewood. Benedict, a non-binary teenager who died on Feb. 8 after an altercation during the school day on Feb. 7. The vigil is designed to lift up in support of trans, non-binary and LGBTQ+ students everywhere and call attention to hate speech and bullying. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Maplewood Town Hall, 574 Valley St. Counselors will be available onsite. Add to 📅.

Outdoor Play Connection, an organization that promotes outdoor activity for children and youth, to host a “Weekend Pop-Up” on Feb. 25 and Mar. 3 in West Orange. New Jersey Turnpike Authority to host “Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension Project Public Hearing” on Feb. 27 in Newark. The event, scheduled from 6-9 p.m. at East Side High School in Newark. The hearing will discuss will discuss a proposed construction project on the Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the Turnpike. The proposed plan would rebuild an 8.1-mile section of the highway between Newark, Jersey City and Bayonne that leads to the Holland Tunnel and expand the highway and and replace 29 bridges.
