Newark Board of Education has decided not to swear in a selected charter school teacher to fill a vacated term due to a possible conflict of interest. Despite a statutory requirement to fill vacancies within 65 days, no plans have been made to fill the seat left by former Board President Asia Norton, whose resignation became effective last September.
