Newark’s Zoning Board of Adjustment approved plans for a 124-unit apartment building in the North Ward on Dec. 14. Plans for the building include demolishing an existing one-story industrial building 684-690 and 692-700 4th St. and constructing a six-story residential building. The developer, J&J Builders LLC, agreed to reduce the number of units by six from the original application. The city’s inclusionary zoning ordinance requires 20% of the units to be for affordable housing, resulting in 25 affordable units in the development.
