Seton Hall University Arts Council to host 2023 “Winter Concert” on Dec. 8 in South Orange. The university’s chorus, concert band, and chamber choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Selection of this year’s programming was done in accordance the council’s diversity, equity and inclusion cultural programming theme of ‘Voices & Visibility’ and features work from and about historically underrepresented groups.

Irvington to host “Holiday Lighting Spectacular” on Dec. 6. The event begins at 5 p.m. at Town Hall and includes choir performances from Berkeley Terrace and Madison Avenue Elementary Schools, free toy giveaway for children, and visit from Candy Land characters. Add to 📅.

Essex County and RWJBarnabas Health plan a 2023 “Holiday Emergency Food Distribution” event Dec. 7 in East Orange. Distribution begins at 9 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church at 66 South Grove St. There will be 1,000 turkeys and food boxes given on a first-come, first-served basis. Add to 📅.

Downtown West Orange to host a 2023 holiday scavenger hunt through Dec. 21 in town’s commercial districts. Areas include Eagle Rock, Tory Corner, St. Mark’s, the Valley. The event includes a chance to win one of three $100 Visa gift cards.

Turtle Back Zoo seeks volunteers for its 2024 “Docent Program” by Jan. 12. Eligible volunteers undergo eight weeks of training and act as guides stationed throughout the zoo. Applications are accepted online.

Studio Montclair seeks entries for its “Black & White Imprint” exhibition planned from Jan. 26 to Mar. 1 in celebration of Black History Month. Traditional and experimental prints that evoke personal and collective memory are encouraged. The deadline for entries is Dec. 1.

NJ Transit to deploy three electric shuttles for seniors and people with disabilities in Essex County in federally funded pilot program. Four electric vans will also go to NJ Transit’s Access Link, a shared-ride system that serves people with disabilities who cannot use fixed bus routes.
