The event is from 1-4 p.m. and features a scavenger hunt, free hot chocolate, coffee, snacks from select restaurants, and a chance to win a holiday prize basket. U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “plant hardiness zone map” shows 2.5 degree Fahrenheit warming trend across U.S. in last 11 years. New Jersey gardeners are more likely to experience warmer extreme minimum temperatures, changing which plants can be grown outdoors. Essex County has warmed by one zone, with extreme minimum temperatures up to 10 degrees warmer.
