New Jersey will no longer require political candidates to swear an oath including the word “God” to be able to run for elected office. The new wording will allow people with no religious affiliation who objected to the use of the term to run for office, according to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a secular advocacy group that brought a lawsuit prompting the change.
