Glen Ridge Kiwanis Club to host a town-wide clothing and household goods collection drive on Nov. 18. The event will take place at the Glen Ridge High School parking lot from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Items will be donated to Goodwill NY-NJ. Tax donation receipts can be provided. Add to 📅.

Montclair library to host virtual pilates class series beginning Nov. 20. The class meets Mondays at 12 p.m. through Dec. 18. This course is open to non-library cardholders. Pre-registration is required. Add to 📅.

Bloomfield recreation to host “Pop Up Latin Heritage Art Exhibit” Nov. 20. Montclair Bikery plans 15-mile “2023 Turkey Ride” on Nov. 19 with riders to travel to Brookdale ShopRite, pick up frozen turkeys and deliver them to Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair. Preregistration is encouraged for bike riders. Monetary donations are being accepted online to sponsor the purchase of turkeys. Human Needs Food Pantry will also accept frozen turkey and nonperishable sides donations on the day of the bike ride. Add to 📅.

Liuxing Johnston will be at East Side Mags in Montclair to sign copies of their work from 2-5 p.m. Their work centers around the topics of grief, transracial adoption, and the everyday lives of butch lesbians of color living on the East Coast. Out Montclair, Newark LGBTQ Center, and Trans Affirming Alliance plans “Transcendence: Honoring and Celebrating Trans Lives” Nov. 20. This event will be run from 6-8 p.m. at NJPAC Arts Education Center to commemorate Trans Day of Remembrance. A candlelight vigil for Ashley Moore, a Black trans woman who died in Newark, will follow from 8-8:30 p.m. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Add to 📅.

New Jersey will no longer require political candidates to swear an oath including the word “God” to be able to run for elected office. The new wording will allow people with no religious affiliation who objected to the use of the term to run for office, according to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a secular advocacy group that brought a lawsuit prompting the change.
