Irvington plans 2023 Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. outside the Fire Department building on Springfield Ave. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Add to 📅.

Irvington library plans “Know Your Rights: Housing Discrimination” presentation on Nov. 13. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the main floor of the library. Add to 📅.

Seton Village South Orange plans “Community Planting Day” around the Seton Village neighborhood and Irvington Ave. on Nov. 12. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting at Carter Park on Irvington Ave. and College Place. Add to 📅.

Seton Hall University’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity offering donation-based leaf raking in fall 2023. Students will rake yard leaves on Nov. 11, 12, 18, and 19 for a donation to the organization. All donations will go towards funding the organization’s trip to construct a home outside of New Jersey. Leaf ranking can be booked through email.

New Jersey Council for the Humanities plans “From Military Trauma to Healing through Creative Arts,” a free in-person event at Newark Public Library on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will include a conversation with former military chaplain James Yee, a Warrior Writers info session, and “Bridge Back Home from War,” a poetic theater performance. New Jersey Council for the Humanities

Applications are open for Newark’s affordable housing development initiative. The “Equitable Investments in Newark Communities” initiative seeks proposals from contractors, developers, and non-profits to acquire, manage, construct, rehabilitate, and maintain housing. Most available properties are in the West and South wards. A pre-submission Q&A will be held on Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Nov. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Applications are due Dec. 18.

N.J. makes $5M available for grants to support new or existing apprenticeship programs in nontraditional fields. Grants of up to $12K per apprentice can reimburse up to half of their wages for 52 work weeks. Applications are due from eligible organizations by Dec. 8.
