Newark-based Prudential is accepting applications from U.S. residents age 14-18 with innovative solutions to community problems for its 2023 Emerging Visionaries program. Applications are due Nov. 2 to qualify for up to $15K and professional development to implement their idea.

Newark recreation offers free “Uzima Dance Fitness Bootcamp” classes for adults on Mondays and Wednesdays. The classes are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center. All classes are free and run until Nov. 15. Add to 📅.

Belleville to host N.J. motor vehicle commission mobile unit on Nov. 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Belleville Senior Center. Preregistration is required for all service and time slot selection is required for Real ID appointments. Nutley Family Service Bureau’s “Winter Wonderland Christmas Shop” is open for the holiday season. The thrift shop has items for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah. The thrift shop is located at 169 Chestnut St. in Nutley and continues to take donations.

Registration is open for Nutley recreation’s 2023-2024 basketball program for children in grades 3-8. The application deadline is Nov. 1.

West Orange library is collecting donations to cover a budget gap for its new location at 10 Rooney Circle. The gap is the result of a 30 percent increase in construction costs that was not accounted for when the budget for the project was made in 2019.

West Orange library will close the library annex at 80 Main St. and all services will stop on Oct. 27 until the opening of the new library at 10 Rooney Circle. The opening was originally planned for Nov. 1 but may be delayed. West Orange residents can access library materials and programing at BCCLS member libraries and Essex County libraries until the West Orange library reopens.
