Bloomfield to pave Glenwood Ave from East Orange border to Lackawanna Place this Thursday and Friday
Bloomfield is continuing to make infrastructure improvements in town with work to begin on Glenwood Ave. this Thursday. The work will take approximately two days to complete and will include all of Glenwood Ave. from the East Orange border to Lackawanna Place.

Bloomfield is continuing to make infrastructure improvements in town with work to begin on Glenwood Ave. this Thursday. The work will take approximately two days to complete and will include all of Glenwood Ave. from the East Orange border to Lackawanna Place.
“As part of our commitment to making infrastructure improvements in town and planning for the future, we will be paving Glenwood Ave. at the end of this week,” said Mayor Venezia. “While this work is being done, we will make every effort to minimize the disruption to residents and that is why we are informing impacted residents before work begins.”
All side streets off Glenwood Ave. will be available for residents to park tomorrow and Friday. The traffic pattern will shift to one-lane traffic with possible intermittent periods of no thru traffic. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route over the next two days.
The township is asking residents that live in the affected area to remove their cars from the street by 7am on Thursday to ensure that paving can move forward efficiently. If weather or equipment trouble does not allow for the project to begin on Thursday, the project will begin on the next business day.
“We are constantly monitoring roads and other infrastructure in town that may need repair and we have determined that Glenwood Ave. should be paved before the summer,” said Township Engineer Paul Lasek. “The Mayor and Council have made tremendous investments in infrastructure in town over the last several years including in water lines, roads and bridges and have committed to continuing to do so.”
The township and the Contractor, D&L Paving Contractors, Inc. will make every effort to minimize inconvenience during construction. Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia wants residents to be aware of the alternate means by which they can access New York City now that the DeCamp bus company has terminated its commuter service from Bloomfield to New York City. This includes an expansion of the Townships’ existing shuttle service beginning on April 10, that will take residents to the Allwood (Clifton) Park & Ride from which they can transfer to the 192 to the Port Authority, as well as several other alternatives which are listed below.
Bloomfield Township Launching Monthly Mental Health Workshops Starting in March
The Township of Bloomfield Department of Human Services, in partnership with Temple Ner Tamid and Rabbi Katz, will be hosting a monthly workshop to help equip parents and caregivers of children, teens, and young adults with the support and information they need to understand and care for the mental health of their children. The workshops will be held at Temple Ner Tamid (936 Broad Street, Bloomfield, NJ) on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 P.M. on March 29, April 26, May 31, June 21, July 19, and August 23.
